Incumbent will independently work under the direction of principal research investigator to perform complex laboratory procedures and technical scientific duties. Involves selection or modification of existing research techniques and databases, interpreting scientific results, evaluating work performed by students, and maintaining the laboratory. Supervise undergraduate students and assist graduate students and post-doctoral associates in laboratory tasks and analysis.

We’re hiring – Assistant Manager Knott Dairy Center

The Knott Dairy Assistant Manager reports to, assists, and supports the Knott Dairy Center Manager. In this role the incumbent must be able to fill-in and perform duties of Manager during their absence. Responsibilities include assisting the Manager with budget planning and forecasting, scheduling and directing personnel resources, and facilities care for major dairy herd and production (milking, calving, breeding, nutrition and feeding, health care, forage utilization, and pasture grazing schedules, livestock sales) to meet the milk supply needs of the WSU Creamery.

The Dairy Farm Operations Manager is responsible for the management of the Department of Animal Sciences Dairy herd (Knott Dairy Center) and the Cooperative University Dairy Students (CUDS) livestock. The manager is responsible for the planning, timing, and directing of personnel resources and facilities for major milking cow herd and replacement heifer events (calving, breeding, milking, nutrition and feeding, health care, forage utilization, and pasture schedules, milk and livestock sales).

Great news from the WSU Wagyu herd

Please meet WSU Miss L120. DNA results sent back by the American Wagyu Association confirmed what was hoped for this 2023 fall-born purebred Wagyu heifer. She is the first homozygous polled Wagyu for the WSU herd.
