Animal Sciences Department welcomes Dr. Blake Foraker

WSU Animal Sciences is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Blake Foraker to our team. We are excited to add Dr. Foraker’s expertise in meat science to the breadth of expertise that we currently retain. Blake earned his Ph.D. in meat science from Texas Tech University, studying under the primary mentorship of Dr. Dale Woerner. Additionally, Blake earned a B.S. in animal science from Kansas State University and an M.S. in meat science from Colorado State University. Dr. Foraker’s research expertise pertains to meat animal growth, carcass composition, and eating quality. Dr. Foraker has centered his recent research efforts on terminal aspects of the rapidly growing practice of beef × dairy crossbreeding in the U.S.  During his time at Texas Tech University and Colorado State University, he coached several meat judging and meat animal evaluation teams to nationally renowned success. Dr. Foraker will revive and refresh our meat science focused courses in service of our undergraduate and graduate student education. Dr. Foraker will help fulfill the WA State Extension needs in meat science across the state, regionally and nationally while enhancing our reputation for excellence globally. Dr. Foraker’s will officially commence his WSU appointment on July 15th, 2022. Please join WSU Animal Sciences in welcoming, Dr. Blake Foraker to the Palouse and the COUG family.
