Where are you from?

Born and raised in Spokane, Washington

What inspired you to pursue graduate studies in Animal Sciences at Washington State University?

WSU was always a dream school. Naturally, the first thought was vet school, but research and genetics won in the end.

What is your primary area of study or research focus?

Animal Sciences – Genetics and Epigenetics of Bovine Placentation

What has been the most rewarding aspect of being part of the Animal Sciences community?

It’s been fun to be able to participate in genetics research that is going to contribute to the bigger picture. I also enjoy all the collaboration that takes place in the AS department. It opens up possibilities for neat research we wouldn’t be able to otherwise do.

Have you published any peer-reviewed manuscripts or key research findings?

Not published yet, but we did submit a paper that is a cross-species comparison of the KIT gene showing high levels of structural conservation across species.
