Great news from the WSU Wagyu herd

Wagyu heifer Miss L120

Please meet WSU Miss L120. DNA results sent back by the American Wagyu Association confirmed what was hoped for this 2023 fall-born purebred Wagyu heifer. She is the first homozygous polled Wagyu for the WSU herd. This is very exciting to finally achieve. We’ve been striving since 2018 to make a homozygous polled Wagyu critter. We’ve achieved a number of heterozygous polled bulls and cows, but this is the first homozygous polled.

What makes her extra special though is that her sire is the number one bull in the U.S. for marbling—Bar R G4 ET. Couple that with her dam who has great EPDs of her own, the future is bright for WSU Miss L120.

Hopefully, she continues to thrive and becomes a mainstay in the WSU herd in the years to come. She is a very chill girl, granddaughter of one of the most gentle cows known to the WSU herd in the past ten years, WSU Miss 342.
