WSU Animal Sciences is BEEFING up our team

The Department of Animal Sciences is proud to introduce Bailey Graham and Ryan Goodman, the latest members of our Beef Operations team. They are replacing our previous managers, who moved on to different pastures after providing years of excellent service.

Ryan Goodman

Ryan Goodman: Beef Operations Manager

Ryan Goodman brings a wealth of experience across various sectors of the beef cattle industry to Washington State University as Beef Cattle Operations Manager. Raised on a cow-calf and stocker cattle ranch in Arkansas, Ryan expanded his expertise by working on large-scale feedyards in Texas and diverse farms and ranches across the Southeast and Northern Rocky Mountain regions.

His career spans experience in policy, check-off programs, marketing, and communications roles with key industry organizations, including the Montana Stockgrowers Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, and the Certified Angus Beef ® brand. This diverse background has given Ryan a comprehensive understanding of the beef cattle supply chain, best management practices, beef quality, sustainability, and the critical issues affecting producers and beef consumers.

Ryan’s connection to the land-grant university system is also notable. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University, focusing on beef cattle production. He furthered his education with graduate-level research at the University of Tennessee, where he specialized in beef cattle nutrition and reproductive physiology. His research included fetal programming work on the state’s research farms, along with outreach to producers through extension programs.
