Essential duties and responsibilities

Student employees will receive training in all duties, emphasizing skill development, safety, and understanding of task principles. Key responsibilities include:

  • Livestock handling: Practice techniques that prioritize animal welfare and minimize stress.
  • Monitoring livestock: Observe and monitor conditions, nutrition, health, and behavior to identify issues or opportunities.
  • General maintenance: Maintain buildings, equipment, and grounds, including light construction, cleaning, organizing, and painting, etc.

Work expectations

  • Punctuality and attendance: Arrive on time and be present for all assigned shifts to maintain operations and ensure animal welfare.
  • Reliability: Demonstrate reliability by maintaining regular attendance and fulfilling commitments.
  • Completion and adherence to essential training: Employees are expected to complete essential and assigned training in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Team player: Be honest, positive, punctual, and detail-oriented, with strong collaborative skills.
  • Communication skills: Communicate effectively in person, via text, and email.

Available shifts

  • AM Chores: 4:30 am – 8:00 am
  • AM Milking: 5:30 am – 2:00 pm (Weekends & Holidays, ½ hour unpaid break)
  • Feeder/Loader: 6:30 am – 3:00 pm (Weekends & Holidays, ½ hour unpaid break)
  • PM Chores: 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm
  • PM Milking: 4:00 pm – 12:30 am (Weekends & Holidays, ½ hour unpaid break)
