Beef Operations Assistant Manager

Support beef operations in the Department of Animal Sciences at Washington State University, including herd management, nutrition, and facility coordination. Assist with animal care oversight, staff supervision, and research, teaching, and outreach programs. Serve as acting manager when needed and help ensure safe, efficient operations across multiple university programs.

Schedule
Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with occasional weekend work
Salary
$4,508–$6,763/month (based on experience)

Requirements

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of progressively responsible relevant experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Practical knowledge and experience with the beef industry; experience in beef cattle management, and knowledge of pasture management.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Animal Sciences or related field.
  • Experience in teaching or outreach.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year teaching experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with budgeting and economic forecasting.
  • Artificial Insemination experience.
  • Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) experience.
