I graduated in Spring of 2025 with my bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from WSU. I decided to continue my education here in completing my master’s degree in animal sciences because of its strong integration of research, teaching, and applied science, particularly in areas that align closely with my interests in reproductive physiology and livestock health. WSU offers a collaborative environment where faculty expertise, access to well-managed animal facilities, and opportunities for hands-on research create an ideal setting to develop both technical and critical thinking skills.
I am studying reproductive physiology with Dr. Martin Maquivar. Specifically, we are looking into retained placenta in organic dairy cattle.
The best part of becoming a member of the Animal Sciences community has been the people. Being part of a group that is both knowledgeable and supportive has made a big difference in my experience. I’ve also really valued the hands-on experiences and opportunities to apply what I’m learning in a meaningful way. Whether it’s working with animals, conducting research, or discussing real-world challenges in animal agriculture, these experiences have made my training feel both relevant and impactful. Overall, being part of this community has helped me build confidence in my skills, expand my professional network, and feel connected to a field where I know I can make a difference.
