- In my initial research, we found that enhanced fibrogenesis in muscle of the offspring of an obese mother lead to impairment of muscle function in the later stages of life.
- In subsequent research, we identified a novel enhancer region of the Myogenin gene that is required for myogenesis. This enhancer region was inhibited during maternal obesity and resulted in inhibition of myogenesis in the offspring of the obese mother.
