The Opportunity
Knott Dairy Center is seeking a full-time Milker to manage daily milking operations, routine equipment maintenance, and basic herd care for 150–180 Holstein cows in Pullman, WA.
Milking & Herd Health (50%)
Execute twice-daily milking routines, monitor herd health, assist with calving, and ensure safe animal handling.
Equipment Maintenance & Sanitation (40%)
Maintain and clean milking parlor equipment, storage tanks, and facilities.
Training & Research Support (10%)
Assist research staff with milk sampling and train/supervise student employees.
Work Schedule & Shift Information
- Full-time (100% FTE, 40 hours/week)
- The two full-time Milker positions rotate between day and night shifts every three months, or as assigned by the supervisor.
- Day Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (½-hour unpaid meal break)
- Night Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM (½-hour unpaid meal break)
Salary Range: $3,403 – $4,517 per month (Classified Staff, overtime eligible).

Required Qualifications
- 2 years of farm/livestock experience (or equivalent education/experience)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work rotating shifts and extended hours as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior milking or dairy experience
- Knowledge of food processing sanitation
- Degree in Animal/Dairy Science
